Smile Confidently With Clear, Removable Aligners
Clear aligners are designed to straighten teeth just like braces do – just without metal brackets and wires.
They work by gently applying controlled pressure to your teeth in different areas of your mouth to slowly move your teeth into straighter positions throughout your treatment.
Clear aligner treatment can be ideal for many teens and adults who want treatment option that offers the aesthetics and convenience of removable aligners.
Since they are transparent, clear aligners are discreet. Many people won't even notice that you are wearing them.
Additionally, since they are removable, you can continue to eat all the foods you love, and maintain your regular oral hygiene routine with ease.

Features of Treatment with Clear Aligners
Both Spark and Angel Aligners offer a number of great features that can help make your orthodontic treatment go more smoothly.

Smooth Construction
At Woodstock Orthodontics, we use Spark™ and Angel Aligners, which are both made from BPA-free plastic.
Spark aligners are made with TruGEN™ material, a proprietary material designed to be clearer, more comfortable, and less prone to staining than other clear aligner materials. This material is not only BPA free, it also does not contain mercury, latex, or phthalate.
Low-Profile Aesthetics
For those with aesthetic concerns when it comes to orthodontic treatment, clear aligners can be a great choice.
Clear aligners are nearly invisible when worn because they are made of a clear, lightweight material. The casual observer may not even notice you're wearing them!

Removable Aligners
Clear aligners are designed to be removed before eating meals and snacks, which means there are no food restrictions associated with their use.
Additionally, because they can be removed, you can take them out to brush and floss your teeth, so your oral hygiene routine should be unaffected by their use.

No Adjustment Appointments Required
Clear aligners don't need to be adjusted like braces do. Instead, you just switch from one set of aligners to the next in the series as prescribed by your orthodontist.
Occasional checkups will still be necessary to assess your progress, but you'll definitely save time on those adjustment appointments!
Digital Impressions with 3Shape TRIOS™
Our orthodontist uses the 3Shape TRIOS scanner to take digital impressions of your smile – and show you your projected results – in preparation for clear aligner treatment.
These digital impressions are minimally invasive and don't require any goopy impression material like physical impressions do.

The Clear Aligner Treatment Process
Wondering how it all works? Read on to learn what you can expect during clear aligner treatment at Woodstock Orthodontics.
Initial Consultation
At your initial consultation, your orthodontist will perform an exam and imaging to diagnose your orthodontic condition and design a custom treatment plan just for you. Your orthodontist will also address any questions or concerns you may have about practical and financial aspects of your clear aligner treatment.
The Treatment Plan
Using the results of your exam and digital scans as a guideline, your orthodontist will develop a treatment plan customized to fit your unique needs. This plan will chart the precise movements of your teeth at each stage of your clear aligner journey and approximately how long treatment will take. Your orthodontist will also be able to show you a rendering of how your smile may look at the end of your treatment.
Then, using your digital impressions and treatment plan, your clear aligners will be 3D printed in a lab.
Wearing Your Aligners
For the duration of your treatment, you'll wear your aligners all day, only taking them out for a total of about two hours a day, to eat, or to brush and floss your teeth. Your orthodontist will let you know how long you have to wear each aligner. Gradually, you'll see your new smile begin to take shape as your teeth shift into their prescribed positions.
Appointments With Us
Throughout your treatment, you'll visit our office periodically for checkups. During these appointments, your orthodontist will assess your progress, and make adjustments to your treatment plan as needed. Please also feel free to use these appointments to ask us any questions you may have about your clear aligner treatment.
Enjoy & Maintain
At your final clear aligner appointment with your orthodontist, we'll review the progress your smile has made. Congratulations on finishing the active part of your treatment! Now, it's time to shift into maintenance mode. Your orthodontist will prescribe retainers to keep your teeth in place while their roots and your jawbone heal.

- What are the primary features of clear aligners?
-
How do clear aligners work?
Your clear aligner treatment will come in a series of clear plastic aligners.
Each aligner in the series is designed to move your teeth in tiny increments. Your orthodontist will tell you how long you will have to wear each aligner before replacing it with the next one in the series, which will pick up where the last one left off. Each set of aligners plays a key role in the series.
This process will continue until your teeth are in their prescribed, corrected positions.
-
How much do clear aligners cost?
The cost of orthodontic treatment with clear aligners can vary depending on the severity of your misalignment and how many sets of aligners you'll need to resolve it.
As you can imagine, the more severe or complex your misalignment is, the more sets of aligners you will need to correct it, and the more your treatment will cost.
Concerns about cost are completely understandable. We offer low down payment and zero-interest financing plans to help make orthodontic treatment affordable for all our patients.
Visit our payment plans page to learn more about what we do to help make orthodontic care more affordable for our patients.
-
How many sets of aligners will I need?
Everyone's smile is different, so every treatment plan is different. The number of sets of aligners you need to straighten your smile will depend on the nature and severity of your misalignment.
Your orthodontist will be able to provide you with an accurate estimate of how long your treatment will last during your initial consultation.
-
How long does clear aligner treatment take?
The duration of your clear aligner treatment will depend on several factors, such as the severity of the misalignment of your teeth and jaws.
This determines the amount of movement that will be required to correct the problem and how many aligners you will need to go through to accomplish this. As a result, clear aligner treatment may take longer for some patients than others.
-
Can adults use clear aligners?
Absolutely! Almost anyone with healthy teeth and gums is a potential candidate for clear aligners. There is no upper age limit for clear aligner treatment.
In fact, many adults are opting to undergo orthodontic treatment with clear aligners because they are convenient to remove to eat, brush, and floss.
Plus, the barely-there appearance of clear aligners makes them even more enticing to adults looking to undergo orthodontic treatment without anyone knowing.
-
Can teenagers use clear aligners?
Yes! Teenagers can be great candidates for clear aligners. In the past, many teens dreaded orthodontic treatment for fear of how braces would look. With clear aligner treatment, that fear is gone.
-
How will clear aligners fit my lifestyle?
While wearing clear aligners may take some getting used to at first, we believe you will find that they fit very comfortably into your daily routines.
Clear aligners are nearly invisible when worn and most people will not even know you are undergoing orthodontic treatment.
Additionally, since clear aligners can be removed whenever you eat, drink, brush, or floss, there are no dietary restrictions associated with their use, and you can maintain your regular oral hygiene routine.
-
How often do I have to visit the orthodontist with clear aligners?
You'll need to visit the orthodontist for a checkup about every 16 weeks during your clear aligner treatment. These appointments allow your orthodontist to assess your progress. If any refinements or adjustments are needed for your treatment, they may require extra visits.
One benefit of clear aligners is that they need to be adjusted or tightened – you just switch to the next set of aligners as prescribed by your orthodontist – so you won't need to visit us for these types of appointments during your treatment.
-
How often do I have to change my clear aligners?
When you first start treatment, your orthodontist will tell you how often you should switch out your aligners, as the duration of time can vary from case to case.
-
Are there any food or drink restrictions?
Because you remove your clear aligners to eat, there aren't any dietary restrictions associated with wearing them.
We recommend taking your aligners out when drinking anything other than water to avoid staining or warping them and to prevent sugars and acids from getting trapped between them and your teeth.
-
How do I clean my aligners?
There are a few different steps involved when it comes to keeping your clear aligners clean, but all in all it's pretty simple.
Each time you take your aligners out of your mouth, be sure to rinse them to wash away dry saliva and plaque that may be beginning to develop.
It is also recommended to brush your teeth after each meal before putting your aligners back in. This prevents food and other debris from getting trapped between your teeth and the aligners, leading to bad breath, cavities, and gum disease.
Clean your aligners thoroughly each day using a soft toothbrush and some clear anti-bacterial soap or toothpaste. Be sure to brush your aligners gently so as not to scratch them. Once your aligners are clean, rinse the soap off thoroughly with cool water. Then you're done!
-
How do I store my aligners?
Whenever they aren't in your mouth, or soaking in cleaning solution, store your clear aligners in the case they came with. This will keep them safe and clean until it is time to put them back in.
-
Can I play sports with clear aligners?
While you can definitely still play sports, we recommend investing in a sports mouth guard to protect your teeth while you undergo any orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic treatment causes your teeth to loosen slightly as they shift into their new positions, which can make them more susceptible to damage than they normally are.
Clear aligners are removable, so you can switch to your mouth guard to play sports easily.
However, keep in mind that in order to keep treatment on track, clear aligners must be kept in for a minimum of 22 hours a day (or as prescribed by your orthodontist), so plan your time carefully.
-
Can I play my woodwind or brass instrument with clear aligners?
Yes! Simply remove your aligners to play your instrument, and pop them back in when you're done.
Keep in mind that you must keep your clear aligners in for about 22 hours a day (or as prescribed by your orthodontist), so be sure to plan your practice time carefully.
-
Clear aligners vs. braces: which is right for me?
Clear aligners and braces are both effective orthodontic treatment options, but there are differences between them that may affect their suitability for different individuals.
Factors to consider when choosing between clear aligners and braces include aesthetics, your personal preferences and lifestyle, cost, and the nature and severity of your misalignment.
Your orthodontist will assess your specific case and recommend the best treatment option for your needs.
